Open Data
WP6 is collecting datasets produced by WP2, 3, 4, and 5 in collaboration with local, regional, and national data providers. The data and their related metadata undergo a process of semantic and geometric standardization through specific technical procedures outlined in the guidelines. The ultimate outcome of this process is to align the datasets with the FAIR principles.
The publication of datasets will occur through interoperability services that allow their availability, both in the national RNDT catalog (National Catalog for Spatial Data) and in the European INSPIRE Geoportal. This aims to provide users with homogeneous datasets containing the same minimum information content at any level.
To achieve these results, WP6 has developed initial guidelines that instruct thematic communities (WP2, 3, 4, 5) on how to create harmonized datasets, following procedures and processes that also involve the use of controlled vocabularies, which are fundamental for achieving FAIR objectives. A procedure for validating datasets will be defined and implemented in WPs 7 and 8 of the Research Infrastructure.
Another action involves the online dissemination of thematic information to ensure proper interpretation of cartographic representation, which may require the use of complex cartographic symbols.
WP6 also includes dissemination activities: e-learning modules will be made available for the technical and scientific update of users and to create shared knowledge on specific topics that involve diverse skills. Regional Geologists, the recipients of this Infrastructure, have the opportunity to learn about methods, technological trends, and innovative solutions. Training will range from data visualization to complex analysis procedures.
WP6 consists of 3 operating units of ISPRA.
